Privacy at a glance
Chemisode Simulations is designed to work without an account. The simulations do not send student names, answers or generated reports to Chemisode. Most activity takes place only in the user’s browser.
1. Scope
This policy explains how the Chemisode Simulations website handles information. It applies to simulations.chemisode.com and the simulations linked from that site. Other Chemisode services may have separate privacy information because their features and data handling differ.
2. Information processed when the site is used
Website and security information
The site is hosted using Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process standard technical information needed to deliver, secure and provide aggregate traffic information for the website, such as an IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, date and time, and security-related request information. This information is processed on Cloudflare infrastructure and may be processed outside Australia.
Information entered into simulations
Names, answers, measurements, graph points and other responses entered into the simulations are processed in the browser. The site code does not transmit this information to Chemisode. Where a simulation creates a PDF, the report is generated on the device and downloaded directly by the browser.
Browser storage
The Atom Builder may store a cache of public element information from PubChem, together with a cache timestamp, in the browser’s local storage. This cache contains chemistry reference information rather than student names or account information. It can be removed by clearing site data in the browser.
3. External services and links
When Element Info is opened in Atom Builder, the browser may request public element data directly from PubChem, a service of the United States National Library of Medicine. PubChem may receive standard request information such as the user’s IP address and browser details. External websites linked from Chemisode operate under their own privacy policies.
The deployed site code does not include advertising trackers or behavioural advertising. It does not deliberately set tracking cookies. Hosting and security services may still process the technical request information described above.
4. Support communications
If a person emails support@chemisode.com, Chemisode receives the email address, name and any information or attachments the sender chooses to include. This information is used to answer the enquiry, investigate faults and maintain the service. Support messages are stored in Chemisode’s email service and retained only for as long as reasonably required for support, security or record-keeping.
Do not send passwords, sensitive personal information or unnecessary student information in a support request.
5. Children and students
The simulations are designed for secondary education and may be used by people under 18. Chemisode minimises collection by allowing anonymous use and by keeping student work in the browser. Students should not enter sensitive personal information. Teachers and schools should supervise use in line with their own privacy and technology policies.
6. Use, disclosure and overseas processing
Chemisode uses information only to provide, secure, maintain and support the website. Chemisode does not sell personal information. Technical website information may be processed by Cloudflare in locations outside Australia. Requests to PubChem may be processed in the United States. Support email may also be processed by service providers used to deliver email.
7. Security and retention
The site uses HTTPS and is delivered through Cloudflare. Reasonable steps are taken to protect information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Browser-only simulation work remains on the device until the page is closed, reset or browser data is cleared. Retention of infrastructure logs is governed by hosting settings and the relevant provider.
8. Access, correction and privacy enquiries
Because Chemisode does not receive browser-only simulation responses, it cannot access or correct those responses. For information provided through support email, contact support@chemisode.com to request access, correction or deletion where applicable.
Privacy concerns should first be sent to Chemisode using the same address. If a concern is not resolved, information about making a privacy complaint is available from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the site, service providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.
